Foster Care Services
Foster care services are provided in a private residence meeting HCS programmatic requirements by a foster provider who lives in the residence. The foster care provider owns, rents or leases the residence and usually provides services to more than one, but not more than three, consumers who are unrelated to the provider. Foster Care provides consumers with direct personal assistance with activities of daily living (grooming, eating, bathing, dressing, and personal hygiene) and independent living tasks; assistance with meal planning and preparation; securing and providing transportation; assistance with housekeeping, assistance with ambulation and mobility; reinforcement of counseling and therapy activities; assistance with medications and the performance of tasks as delegated by a Registered Nurse; and supervision of consumers' safety and security. Foster care includes habilitation activities, exclusive of day habilitation activities, which facilitate consumers' inclusion in community activities, use of natural supports and typical community services available to all people, social interaction, participation in leisure activities and the development of socially-valued behaviors, daily living and independent living skills. |
